Honda HRC rider Xavi Vierge has undergone successful surgery in Barcelona to treat multiple fractures to the cuboid bone in his right foot, an injury sustained during a crash in Race 2 of the WorldSBK Czech Round at Autodrom Most.
Vierge was caught in a multi-rider collision at Turn 1 through no fault of his own. After an initial medical evaluation at the circuit, he was flown back to Spain for further assessment by renowned MotoGP surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus.
Subsequent examinations confirmed the need for surgical intervention, and a procedure involving the insertion of four screws to stabilise the fractured bone was successfully completed.
Despite the setback, Vierge remains focused and determined to return to racing as soon as possible. He has already begun an intensive rehabilitation programme, which includes physiotherapy and hyperbaric chamber therapy, aimed at accelerating his recovery.
The Spaniard’s goal is to make a full recovery in time for the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round, scheduled for June 13–15 at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli.”
Honda HRC has confirmed that further updates on Vierge’s condition and return timeline will be shared in due course.
