Raya in Race Mode: Qabil Irfan Chases ESBK Glory in Jerez

Malaysian teen racer Qabil Irfan arrives in Jerez for the 2025 ESBK Talent debut with high hopes and Hari Raya spirit.

Qabil Irfan has touched down in Spain just in time for the opening round of the 2025 Espana Superbike Championship (ESBK), set to take place at Circuito de Jerez on April 5–6. The 16-year-old Malaysian racer flew out on April 1, the second day of Hari Raya, with his sights firmly set on clinching a podium in the newly introduced ESBK Talent category.

In 2024, Qabil raced in the Moto4 class with Frando Racing VHC Team Liqui Moly, where he made a name for himself with one win and six podiums. For the new season, he remains with the same outfit but graduates to the ESBK Talent category featuring the Honda NSF 250R in a single-make format designed to highlight young talent.

Although he missed two key pre-season test sessions with the team in Jerez and Alcaraz, SIC Racing stepped in to ensure his readiness. The team organised multiple practice runs at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit using the same NSF 250R machine, helping Qabil adapt quickly to his new ride.

“I’ve arrived in Spain for Round 1 and even though I missed the official tests, SIC Racing gave me the chance to train with the NSF 250R back home. My target here is to win or at least make the podium,” Qabil shared. “Thank you to all the sponsors and supporters—KBS, SIC Racing, ZK Racing, Terengganu Inc, Frando Racing, and RCB. And of course, Selamat Hari Raya to everyone!”

SIC Racing team principal Zulfahmi Khairuddin, who is also in Spain to support Qabil, echoed the same ambitions. “Although we missed the official team tests, our preparations back in Malaysia were solid. We’re entering this new category with determination, even though we’re still gauging the competition. The goal is clear—aim for victory or a strong podium finish.”

As of April 4, Qabil is gearing up for Free Practice 3 and 4, followed by the first qualifying session and Race 1 on Saturday. Fans can catch the race action live via the RFME YouTube channel or follow updates on Instagram and Facebook through ZK Racing.
