Some bikes are built for nostalgia. Some are built for the future. And every once in a while, a bike rolls out that dares to do both. That’s exactly what Indian Motorcycle has pulled off with the 2025 Scout Sixty Bobber. It is a machine that looks back just enough to stay classic but charges forward with enough modern punch to feel alive today.

Indian isn’t just any brand. It’s America’s oldest surviving motorcycle name, with a history that stretches back more than a century. Sure, it had some rocky patches (okay, some serious gaps in production), but somehow, Indian always finds a way to come roaring back. The Scout line is proof of that resilience. Originally debuting in 1920, the Scout has become a kind of living legend. But let’s be real: the new Scout Sixty Bobber has very little in common with that early-20th-century original. And that’s a good thing.

This 2025 version isn’t stuck in the past. It’s built for riders who want old-school style but refuse to settle for old-school performance.

Underneath its dark, brooding looks, the Scout Sixty Bobber hides a surprisingly eager heart: Indian’s new SpeedPlus 999 V-twin engine. At 999cc, it’s the smallest in the Scout family, but don’t let that fool you. It is capable of producing 85 horsepower and 65 pound-feet of torque. It can rev all the way to 6,500 RPM. It’s liquid-cooled too, which means it’ll handle heat, traffic, and high-speed runs without turning into a frying pan under your legs. Now, this is something air-cooled bikes often can’t promise.

And speaking of smart packaging, the transmission and engine share a common case, giving the Scout a tight, compact drivetrain that fits the bobber style perfectly. It’s a five-speed setup that feels right at home for a bike like this. These are enough gears to have fun, but not so many that you’re constantly hunting for the right one.

The frame keeps things feeling classic, rocking a double downtube cradle design that mimics old-school hardtails from a distance.

Up close, though, you’ll spot the hidden dual shocks giving you a modest but manageable two inches of rear suspension travel. Up front, the 41mm forks offer a cushy 4.7 inches. The Scout Sixty Bobber is meant for urban streets and weekend blasts, not rough backroads. Its geometry reflects that, with a 29.4-degree rake that tips it just toward the chopper vibe without making it a sluggish wallow-fest at speed.

Stopping power is handled by 298mm discs front and rear, complete with ABS, because even old-school style has to meet modern safety standards.

And style? Indian nailed it. The Scout Sixty Bobber comes slathered in Black Metallic. No fancy colors unless you pay extra. The extras would feature bobbed fenders, bullet turn signals, and cast-alloy wheels for a low, tough profile. It’s the kind of bike that looks better the dirtier it gets. If you want to add your own flavor, Indian’s got a full catalog of accessories ready for you to bolt on.

What about size and comfort? This Scout Sixty Bobber keeps it accessible.

Now, the Scout Sixty Bobber isn’t rolling into an empty room. Harley-Davidson’s Nightster is standing there, arms crossed, daring it to step up. And the Nightster brings some heat with 91 horsepower, better tech (traction control, riding modes), and that classic Harley badge. But it also brings a higher price and a slightly different attitude. It would be a bit more polished, a bit less rough around the edges.

The Scout Sixty Bobber, on the other hand, leans into the dark-and-raw look. It’s the bike for riders who like their jeans ripped, their boots scuffed, and their rides less about polish and more about presence.

At $10,749 (approx. RM50,600) for the base model, it’s also one of the most affordable ways to buy into the Indian legacy without going broke. Sure, you can option it up with the Limited package if you want electronic ride controls and fancier paint, but even bone stock, this bike delivers exactly what matters, which is character, capability, and a ride that feels like freedom without the weight of tradition holding it down.

The 2025 Scout Sixty Bobber doesn’t beg for respect. It earns it — mile after blacktop mile.
