The Road Racing Alliance Ireland (RRAI) has announced a major breakthrough, securing insurance policies to cover multiple road racing events in 2025. This marks a significant step in reviving the sport in the Republic of Ireland, where road racing has been absent since 2022 due to insurance challenges.
On 28 January, the RRAI confirmed insurance for three key events: the Walderstown Road Races, the Faugheen 50, and the return of the Athea Road Races in County Limerick. The announcement has been met with widespread enthusiasm from riders, fans, and clubs eager to see road racing return to the Republic.
In a Facebook statement, the RRAI expressed relief and determination, highlighting the extensive efforts to secure the policy after road race clubs left Motorcycling Ireland in October 2023. The RRAI emphasized its commitment to collaboration and the future of the sport, ensuring its preservation and growth.
While significant work remains, the RRAI is optimistic about achieving its goals and is exploring additional events for 2025. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland’s road racing calendar, featuring events like the North West 200 and Armoy Road Races, continues to thrive.
The RRAI’s announcement is a turning point, offering hope for the sport’s revival in the Republic. With insurance secured, the focus now shifts to planning and preparation as the road racing community eagerly anticipates the return of the iconic events in 2025.
