Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Revolt Motors, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of RattanIndia, has reinforced its position in the commuter motorcycle segment with the launch of its latest model, the RV BlazeX. With a price tag of Rs 1,14,990 (ex-showroom), this new electric motorcycle is ready to enhance the company’s foothold in India’s two-wheeler market, which is overwhelmingly dominated by motorcycles, accounting for 77% of the 20.5 million units sold in CY2024.

Market Expansion and Growth Plans

Built on the second-generation platform that introduced the RV1 and RV1+ in September 2023, the BlazeX is expected to boost Revolt Motors’ sales. The company recorded 10,018 retail sales from April 2024 to April 2025 and aims to reach 14,000 units by March 2025. Looking ahead, it targets 40,000-45,000 units in FY26.

To achieve these growth targets, the company is expanding its retail presence. Currently, Revolt operates 200 sales and after-sales touchpoints across 260 cities. We can expect this number to reach 500 outlets by next year, significantly strengthening its distribution network.

Commitment to Localisation

Since its inception with the RV400 in 2019, Revolt Motors has built a strong local supply chain. This ensures it remains well-positioned for future growth. The BlazeX incorporates key components sourced from Indian suppliers. This includes a mid-drive motor from Sona Comstar (replacing Uno Minda) and NMC battery cells from CATL. Other suppliers such as Rockman, Fiem, and JBM contribute to various parts of the motorcycle. With a payload capacity of 250kg, a 3.2kWh removable battery pack, and a 4.1kW motor, the BlazeX is well-equipped for the commuter segment.

The high level of localisation ensures that BlazeX qualifies for government subsidies under the PM e-Drive scheme, complying with AIS-156 battery norms. According to Anjali Rattan Nashier, Chairperson of RattanIndia, the company has successfully maintained competitive pricing due to localisation. As such, government incentives must continue for at least five more years to drive further EV adoption in India.

Strategic Investments and Future Roadmap

RattanIndia has invested nearly Rs 500 crore in Revolt Motors over two years, enhancing its R&D and manufacturing capabilities. The Manesar, Haryana plant can produce 180,000 units annually. RattanIndia remains committed to future investments as required for expansion.

To sustain growth, Revolt Motors is developing three new products, including a premium commuter motorcycle and an electric model for younger riders. The company plans to launch two models annually—one refreshed and one completely new.

Global Expansion and Future Prospects

Revolt Motors views growing competition as a positive sign for market expansion. The company has started exports to Sri Lanka. It also plans to enter key commuter motorcycle markets like Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Additionally, Revolt Motors is considering setting up an R&D and manufacturing facility in Chennai, South India. Given the region’s strong supplier base, this move could provide strategic advantages as the company scales up operations.

Conclusion

With strong localisation, expanding retail presence, and ambitious product plans, Revolt Motors is ready for significant growth in the electric motorcycle market. The RV BlazeX launch strengthens its commitment to sustainable mobility, positioning Revolt as a key player in India’s EV future.
