Reigning World Champion Jorge Martin has undergone successful surgery in Barcelona following a training accident that has sidelined him for the 2025 Thai Grand Prix. The Aprilia rider sustained fractures to his left hand while intensifying preparations for the season opener, adding to his setbacks after already missing most of the pre-season testing due to a previous injury.

The Spaniard, who previously broke his right hand during testing in Malaysia, underwent surgery on his left hand at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona. The procedure, performed by Professor Mir and his team, was confirmed as successful by Aprilia.

In a statement, the team said: “The procedure was completed successfully, with the implantation of two screws at the level of the radius fracture and one at the level of the left scaphoid for stabilization and to facilitate the healing process. Surgery was done via a percutaneous approach with arthroscopic assistance. In the coming days, the prognosis will be evaluated on the basis of Jorge’s clinical condition.”

Martin’s absence from the Thai GP marks another blow to his 2025 campaign, as he continues to recover from a series of injuries. He will be replaced by Lorenzo Savadori for the opening round of the season.

The Aprilia team and fans worldwide are rallying behind the World Champion, wishing him a swift and full recovery as he focuses on returning to the track in top form. Further updates on Martin’s condition and recovery timeline are expected in the coming days.
