WorldSBK has unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with Subaru, introducing the all-electric Subaru Solterra as the Official Safety Car of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship for the 2025 season. This partnership, set to run from 2025 to 2027, marks a bold step for both Subaru and WorldSBK, highlighting their shared dedication to innovation and high-performance excellence.

The Solterra will take over from the Dodge Challenger SRT as the safety car for the upcoming season. As Subaru’s inaugural all-electric SUV, the Solterra will be integral to maintaining safety at every WorldSBK event.

Featuring Permanent All-Wheel Drive and dual electric motors, it offers exceptional traction, control, and performance across various track conditions. Its responsibilities will include evaluating track conditions before each session and promptly responding to incidents, ensuring it plays a crucial role in the championship’s safety operations.

More Than a Safety Car

Beyond its track responsibilities, Subaru’s involvement extends to a fan-focused presence at every WorldSBK round. A dedicated Subaru hospitality area will offer media and fans an immersive experience, including hot laps, test drives, and exclusive opportunities to explore Solterra and other Subaru innovations.

Subaru Europe also confirmed plans to leverage the partnership as a platform for unveiling its latest electric models over the next three years, reinforcing the brand’s move toward full electrification under the motto, “Power On. Ready. Charge.”

Shared Vision and Values

Francesco Valentino, Head of WorldSBK’s Commercial & Marketing Department, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to welcome Subaru as the Official Safety Car partner for WorldSBK. The Solterra embodies a perfect blend of innovation, performance, and reliability, making it an ideal match for our Championship. Subaru’s focus on delivering high-quality vehicles aligns perfectly with WorldSBK’s pursuit of excellence. This partnership highlights once more the value of the Championship as a global marketing platform.”

Subaru Europe General Manager David Dello Stritto echoed this sentiment, stating: “Subaru’s unique racing heritage, paired with the passion and loyalty of our global fan base, makes the WorldSBK Championship a meaningful fit for us. The shared values of pushing limits and fostering a spirited community align perfectly with our Safe Fun Tough philosophy. As we move toward full electrification, we remain committed to preserving Subaru’s unique blend of Japanese engineering, sporty character, and adventurous spirit—qualities that resonate deeply within the heart of WorldSBK and Subaru fans alike.”

Debut at Phillip Island

The Subaru Solterra will make its official debut at the opening round of the 2025 WorldSBK season next month at Phillip Island, Australia. The event will see defending champion Toprak Razgatlıoğlu begin his title defence together with BMW, in what promises to be a thrilling season ahead.

This collaboration not only underscores Subaru’s evolution toward electrification but also strengthens WorldSBK’s reputation as a championship embracing cutting-edge technology and sustainability while staying true to its legacy of high-octane excitement.
