BMW Motorrad Motorsport has officially launched its 2025 season for the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) and FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) with a celebratory event in Berlin, Germany. Held at the BMW Motorrad Welt, adjacent to the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin-Spandau, the event showcased the teams and riders along with their new machines for the upcoming season.
The ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team unveiled its lineup featuring reigning World Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu and experienced teammate Michael van der Mark, both set to ride the new BMW M 1000 RR. The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team also introduced its 2025 roster, comprising Markus Reiterberger, Sylvain Guintoli, new addition Steven Odendaal, and Hannes Soomer.
“It’s fantastic to kick off the season with our entire BMW Motorrad Motorsport factory family from both world championships at such a perfect location,” said Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport. “The anticipation for the season grows daily. In WorldSBK, we aim to defend our championship title with Toprak and continue the momentum with Michael. For the FIM EWC, our sights are set on claiming the top step of the championship podium after several close finishes.”
WorldSBK: Eyes on the Championship
Led by Team Principal Shaun Muir, the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team will start the season with high expectations. The team is set to compete with the new generation of M 1000 RR.
“The 2025 M 1000 RR benefits from homologations made to the street bike, including six more horsepower, new aerodynamics, a new fairing and new electronics, adding the potential for even more improvements,” said Chris Gonschor, ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team’s Technical Director.
“At the end of January, FIM officials are coming to Berlin to fully homologate the bike, and we have no doubt that everything will be sorted, and by Phillip Island, we will be ready to race.”
Razgatlioglu, entering his second year with the team, will carry the prestigious #1 plate after his stellar 2024 campaign. “It’s an honour to return to Berlin as World Champion,” Razgatlioglu said. “Seeing the #1 on my bike is exciting, and I hope to achieve great success with the team this year. Thank you to everyone for their incredible support!”
Meanwhile, Van der Mark, now in his fifth season with BMW, expressed his optimism. “It’s fantastic to see the growing support for our team. We finished last season strong with a double podium, and I want to build on that momentum. The ultimate goal is to win the riders’, teams’, and manufacturers’ championships.”
The 2025 WorldSBK season kicks off at Phillip Island, Australia, with the first races scheduled for February 22 and 23.
FIM EWC: Chasing the Championship
The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, led by manager Werner Daemen, is determined to reach the top of the podium in 2025. After securing a solid third-place finish in the 2024 standings, the team is geared up for the upcoming challenge with the new M 1000 RR machine.
Reiterberger, a key member of the team since its debut season, is joined by Guintoli and Soomer, who return for their second year, and newcomer Steven Odendaal. Their campaign begins with the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans in France on April 19-20.
Road Racing Presence
Adding to the excitement, Isle of Man TT winners Peter Hickman and Davey Todd joined the event, representing BMW in international road races and the British Superbike Championship with FHO Racing BMW.
The launch event not only celebrated BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s achievements but also highlighted the team’s ambitious plans for 2025, showcasing their commitment to excellence across all disciplines of motorcycle racing. With a strong lineup of riders and cutting-edge machinery, BMW is poised to make its mark once again this year in both WorldSBK and FIM EWC this season.
