Rising Malaysian talent Hakim Danish Ramli is set to dedicate more time in Europe next season as he gears up for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup (RBMRC) and the FIM Junior GP World Championship (JrGP).
According to Sepang International Circuit (SIC) PETRONAS CEO Azhan Shafriman Hanif, the move aims to provide the 17-year-old racer from Terengganu with the comprehensive preparation needed to excel in these prestigious youth championships.
“Danish met our expectations this season, particularly in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, but his performance in the Junior GP wasn’t as consistent,” Shafriman stated.
“This year, he faced constraints due to his Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) exams, limiting his time in Europe. Next year, we plan for him to stay longer, as extended time there helps him maintain and improve his performance,” he added.
Hakim Danish had a strong start this season, but his momentum slowed mid-year. Despite the challenges, the 2022 Asia Talent Cup champion secured sixth overall in the RBMRC, clinching a victory in Aragon, Spain, along with three podium finishes.
In the JrGP, however, Hakim finished 15th overall with 46 points, a performance hindered by a late-season crash in Malaysia that caused a significant finger injury, forcing him to miss the final round in Jerez.
With plans to base him in Europe full-time next season, Shafriman and Hakim’s management team, ZK Racing, hope the extended training and focus will refine his skills and elevate his performance on the global stage.
