The 2024 MotoGP season finale, the #SolidarityGP, kicked off at Montmeló’s iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with the Ducati Lenovo Team once again making their mark. Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning champion, delivered a stellar performance to claim the top spot in the Practice session, while teammate Enea Bastianini clinched tenth place, securing direct entry to Q2.

Pecco Bagnaia Shines in Practice

After securing seventh in Free Practice earlier in the day, Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia hit the ground running in the afternoon session. Focused on fine-tuning his race setup, Bagnaia stayed within the top four throughout much of the session. His final lap, a blistering 1:38.918, propelled him to the top of the leaderboard.

“I’m happy with today,” said Bagnaia. “We tried everything we had planned and improved our feeling with every run. The cooler conditions made grip a challenge, but the adjustments we made worked well. Tomorrow, our goal is to qualify on the front row to make the race easier.”

Bagnaia’s consistent pace and adaptability place him as a strong contender for both the sprint race and Sunday’s grand finale.

Bastianini Battles to the Top Ten

Enea Bastianini faced a more challenging session, with difficulties finding his rhythm early on. Sixth-fastest in the morning, he hovered outside the top ten during Practice until a late push during the time attack elevated him to tenth.

“It was a challenging day,” admitted Bastianini. “We tested several tyre combinations to understand the best setup. I’m happy with the front-end options but still need to work on the rear. Cooler conditions suit me better, and I hope we can capitalize on that tomorrow.”

Despite the struggles, Bastianini’s late surge ensures he will compete directly in Q2, a crucial advantage for the fast-paced weekend schedule.

What’s Next

The Ducati Lenovo Team returns to the track tomorrow, starting with Free Practice 2 at 10:10 local time (GMT +1). Q2 follows at 11:15, where grid positions for the sprint race and main event will be decided. The 12-lap sprint race will take place at 15:00, giving fans an early taste of the intense competition expected in Sunday’s finale.

With Bagnaia looking to secure pole and Bastianini working on fine-tuning his setup, the Ducati Lenovo Team is poised for a strong showing in the #SolidarityGP.

Stay tuned for updates as the 2024 MotoGP season reaches its thrilling conclusion!
