The highly anticipated Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) is back, with 42,000 participants ready to take part in the two-day event this weekend. The marathon will be held at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6.

As the marathon approaches, the public is advised to plan their weekend travels as several major roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed. Road closures will begin as early as Thursday, October 4, and will be implemented in stages.

On Saturday, 13 roads will be closed between 5 AM and 10 AM, while on Sunday, 29 roads will be blocked from 3 AM to 11 AM. Jalan Raja, the main road in front of Dataran Merdeka where the marathon starts and finishes, will be closed as early as 8 PM on Friday, October 4, until 12 PM on Monday, October 7.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed that 16 senior officers and 345 junior officers from the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will be managing traffic and road closures over the marathon weekend.

These roads will reopen in stages after the race, which begins at 11 AM at Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers and passes through key roads like Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tun Razak, and Persiaran KLCC. A total of 174 police officers will be deployed to ensure smooth operations during the race.
