QJ Motor, a well-established name in the global motorcycle market, continues to prove its relevance and reliability in today’s motorcycling scene. 

Since making its debut in Malaysia under MForce Holdings in late 2022, this Chinese brand from Qianjiang Motorcycle has expanded options for local bike enthusiasts, offering a wide range of models from 100cc to 1300cc. Popular models like the SRT800, SRK600, and SRV250 have already made an impact.

In this review, we’re taking a closer look at the SRK 250, a powerful naked bike that stands out in QJ Motor’s lineup. Alongside its sportier sibling, the SRK 250 RR, this model offers a great balance of performance, style, and affordability in the 250cc segment. 

To get the full experience, iMotorbike recently joined a ride with the “SRK 250 Malaysia Community”, heading to Putrajaya last month and the experience was truly memorable.

Specs and Performance

The SRK250 and SRK250 RR both arrived in Malaysia around 2022, alongside the cruiser SRV250. Both versions of the SRK250 are equipped with a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 249cc, four-stroke, eight-valve, parallel-twin engine, fueled by EFI. 

The SRK250 is fitted with stock Maxxis Supermaxx MA-SP tyres—110/70 in the front and 150/60 in the rear—both mounted on 17-inch wheels. For suspension, both models feature upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock, providing a comfortable and controlled ride. Notably, the SRK250RR also includes a slip-and-assist clutch for smoother shifting.

Based on research and conversations with a few riders, the top speed of the SRK 250 is reported to be around 166 km/h to 170 km/h.    

In terms of power, the SRK250 naked version generates 31.5 hp at 11,000 rpm and 21.2 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm, whereas the SRK250RR produces 25 hp at 8,500 rpm and 24.1 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. 

It is quite unusual to see the naked version outpacing the sportier model in power, but many riders report that the SRK250 feels quicker and more powerful, despite the RR carrying a higher price tag.   

Interestingly, both bikes share the same engine as the Benelli TNT 249. QJ Motor, established in 1985, manufactures not only its own bikes but also brands like Benelli and Keeway, which are sold worldwide.

Standout Features of the SRK 250

One of the highlights of the SRK250 is its sound. Thanks to its 360-degree crankshaft, where both pistons move simultaneously, the bike produces a much deeper and heavier tone compared to other 250cc models. With the right aftermarket exhaust, it can even replicate the sound of a four-cylinder bike, making it a head-turner wherever you ride.

What’s also interesting is the full LCD screen panel on the SRK250, which provides all the essential information a rider needs. The rear LED tail lights, along with the “I”-shaped design and streamlined air guides, add to the bike’s appeal. 

Plus, the ergonomic riding position ensures comfort, making it great for long rides. However, the pillion seat is quite small, and many riders have opted to customize it for additional comfort and a better outlook.

Practical Additions

A key feature worth noting on the SRK 250 is the use of a rear tyre hugger or fender. This accessory helps protect both the bike and rider from road debris such as mud and sand. With the SRK250’s shorter rear tail, a fender not only increases functionality but also enhances the bike’s overall aerodynamic design and aesthetic appeal.

Despite these potential modifications, the SRK250 is already a standout bike in its stock form. The combination of its unique two-cylinder sound, smooth power delivery, and bold design makes it a compelling choice for anyone looking for something different in the 250cc class.

One SRK250 community rider, Hazwan, shared his thoughts on the bike: “It’s great for beginners because the power delivery is smooth and linear. You don’t get that sudden surge of power like you do with bigger bikes, but the power is still there—it just builds up gradually.”

He continued, “It’s not a fast, racing-style bike; it’s more suited for casual rides, city commutes, and even convoy rides. But even on the highway, it holds its own with a good response when you need it. Overall, I’ve had no issues with the bike, and it’s been a great experience.”

Customizations for Inspiration

Also, many riders highly recommend the local brand MSH for an aftermarket exhaust on the SRK 250. This exhaust not only gives the bike a more aggressive sound but also boosts horsepower and improves overall performance.
