In Lahad Datu, Sabah, a father’s creativity and love has caught the community’s attention, leading to a heartwarming act of generosity. A viral video showed 69-year-old Pakcik Basri transporting his daughter, Putri Sarah, to school on a modified bicycle. The bike, equipped with dustbins as makeshift seats, highlighted his resourcefulness and dedication.
Hareez Ikmal shared the video on Facebook. Many were moved by the sight of Pakcik Basri pedalling through traffic. “The love of a father is truly amazing,” Hareez commented.
The video reached Malaysian activist Adrian Edy, who was deeply touched. Adrian felt compelled to help the family. He organized donations, enabling him to gift Pakcik Basri a new motorbike. This gift significantly improved their daily commute.
Adrian shared more about Pakcik Basri’s situation. The elderly man had sold ice cream for over a decade. Health issues forced him to stop. Despite challenges, he remained committed to his daughter’s education, making daily trips to school by bike.
With the new motorbike, the school run and trips to the city are now much easier. Grateful for the unexpected gift, Pakcik Basri described it as a blessing for his daughter and a sign of divine care.
