The Yamaha Racing Heritage Club (YRHC) recently took centre stage at the Yamaha Racing Experience (YRE) held at the Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto. This event showcased an impressive blend of past and present racing excellence. Legendary riders Rossi and Cadalora joined Yamaha’s current WorldSBK and Endurance stars, celebrating Yamaha’s illustrious racing history.
The YRHC was established to preserve and honour Yamaha’s rich racing legacy. It made a significant impact at this exclusive two-day event in Spain. The glorious weather at Jerez perfectly complemented the assembly of World Championship-winning Yamaha riders. Overall, this created an electric atmosphere filled with nostalgia and excitement.
Nine-time Grand Prix World Champion Valentino Rossi and three-time Grand Prix World Champion Luca Cadalora headlined the event.
They shared the track with current Yamaha WorldSBK riders, including six-time Superbike World Champion Jonathan Rea and his Pata Prometeon Yamaha teammate, 2020 WorldSSP Champion Andrea Locatelli. Double WorldSSP Champion (2021 & 2022) Dominique Aegerter was also a part of the star-studded lineup.
The reigning FIM Endurance World Champions from the Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team also joined the activities. The Team comprised riders Niccolò Canepa, Karel Hanika, Marvin Fritz, and Robin Mulhauser. With such a stellar roster of riders, the 2024 YRE was all set to be an epic event. The Yamaha Racing Heritage Club pit box earned accolades, including the title of the “coolest garage” from Canepa.
A significant highlight of the event was the presence of some of the most iconic two-stroke bikes from the past few decades, brought to Spain by YRHC members.
The immaculately maintained Eddie Lawson YZR500s were among the show’s stars. These included his title-winning 1986 0W81 and 1987 0W86 models. Luca Cadalora’s 1990 YZR250 0WB9, which he rode to third place in the championship that year, was also on display. The Battisti family generously provided these legendary machines in memory of Luciano Battisti, a YRHC founder and renowned motorcycle collector who passed away last year.
The Yamaha Racing Heritage Club’s participation at the Yamaha Racing Experience in Jerez highlighted the brand’s rich history and bridged the gap between past and present. This allowed fans and riders alike to celebrate the legacy and ongoing success of Yamaha Racing.
