The number 54 rider achieves triple victory for ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
Toprak Razgatlioglu completes the hat trick ahead of Bulega in Race 2
The final race of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship weekend was nothing short of dramatic, as Toprak Razgatlioglu of the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team completed a perfect weekend at the Prosecco DOC UK Round by winning all three races.
Razgatlioglu’s remarkable performance at Donington Park was a dream result for the BMW Motorrad Team. After finishing fastest on Friday and securing pole position on Saturday, Toprak gave BMW a hat-trick of wins, marking his ninth victory with the German manufacturer.
The Turkish rider equaled Tom Sykes’ record at the historic circuit, beating Nicolo Bulega of Aruba.it Racing-Ducati by an astonishing 8.062 seconds. Alex Lowes of Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK completed the podium, celebrating his 300th race start with a third-place finish.
Bautista crashes on his way to the grid, while Toprak leads.
The drama unfolded before the race even began, with reigning World Champion Alvaro Bautista also from Aruba.it Racing-Ducati crashed at Goddards during his sighting lap. Despite the mishap, Bautista managed to get his bike repaired on the grid just in time for the race to start. However, once the lights went out, no one could match Razgatlioglu’s pace as he surged off the line, maintaining his lead from Bulega and Scott Redding of Bonovo Action BMW.
Redding started strong but was soon overtaken by Alex Lowes, relegating him to fourth. At the front, Razgatlioglu extended his lead to over two seconds, consistently dipping inside the 1’25 bracket.
Jonathan Rea of Pata Prometeon Yamaha had a challenging start, falling behind the leading quartet before being overtaken by Bautista and Danilo Petrucci of Barni Spark Racing Team with 14 laps remaining. Bautista, now in fifth, set his sights on Andrea Locatelli of Pata Prometeon Yamaha.
Razgatlioglu’s sensational performance saw him consistently lapping within the 1’26 bracket in the late stages, ultimately crossing the finish line 8.062 seconds ahead of Bulega, securing his third consecutive victory of the weekend.
