The world’s top young motocross talent descended on Heerde, Netherlands, for the 2024 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, showcasing their skills on the challenging 1750m woodland sand circuit at Kamperweg Heerde. The event serves as a crucial platform for the future stars of motocross. It has witnessed an outstanding performance from GASGAS-mounted riders, who secured a world title and several podium finishes.

Kash Van Hammond Dominates the 65cc Category

In the 65cc category, 11-year-old Dutch sensation Kash Van Hammond clinched the World title with a commanding performance. Van Hammond left his competitors in the dust, accumulating 47 points with consistent 2-1 finishes across both motos. His impressive display on the GASGAS bike highlights his potential for a stellar career in motocross. Fellow GASGAS rider Theo Kolts also showcased his talent, securing third place with 40 points. Cohen Jagielski and Timote Cez completed strong performances by finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.

Strong Showings in 85cc and 125cc Classes

The 85cc class saw a fiercely competitive field, necessitating three groups for practice and qualifying. Austrian racer Moritz Ernecker set the fastest time in Group A with a remarkable 2:22.238. He was three seconds ahead of fellow GASGAS rider Bodie Court. In the Sunday showdown, French rider Sleny Goyer secured fourth place with 32 points. On the other hand, Ernecker tied for sixth with 27 points. Both racers demonstrated their potential for future success in motocross.

Francisco Garcia delivered a standout performance in the 125cc class, securing third place overall with 40 points. Despite limited training time on his GASGAS machine, Garcia showcased his exceptional talent in challenging conditions, marking himself as a rising star in the sport.

Looking Ahead

The 2024 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship highlighted the current cream of the crop in youth motocross talent and underscored the prowess of GASGAS machinery. The event continues to be a vital showcase for future motocross stars. We can see this through past champions like current Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing MXGP rider Jorge Prado, who won the 65cc category in 2011.

With their impressive performances at Heerde, GASGAS riders have set the stage for a bright future in motocross. Everyone at GASGAS is excited to see these talented racers progress toward their ultimate goal: a full-time starting gate pick in the FIM Motocross World Championship.
