Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi will take Maverick Vinales’ place in Aprilia’s factory MotoGP lineup for the upcoming season, where he will team up with his 2023 title rival, Jorge Martin.
After a successful building period under the retiring Aleix Espargaro, Aprilia anticipates that the Martin-Bezzecchi partnership will increase its efforts.
Ahead of the upcoming Motul TT Assen race, Aprilia Racing has confirmed a significant move, announcing that Marco Bezzecchi from VR46 Ducati will join their factory RS-GP team for the forthcoming season.
Bezzecchi has signed a multi-year deal to race alongside Pramac’s Jorge Martin, marking a strategic move following Maverick Vinales’s unexpected switch to a satellite KTM machine at Tech3.
This decision is historic as Bezzecchi becomes the first Italian rider to compete full-time for Aprilia since Lorenzo Savadori partnered with Aleix Espargaro in 2020 for the season’s final rounds.
Team principal Massimo Rivola has expressed confidence in Bezzecchi’s abilities, highlighting the team’s commitment to enhancing its competitive edge with a talented Italian rider.
Rivola stated upon Bezzecchi’s signing, “Welcome aboard to one of Italy’s finest talents, whose prowess has been evident since his debut in lower categories and notably in MotoGP last year, where he achieved impressive performances and notable victories.”
“We eagerly anticipate welcoming Bezzecchi to Noale; the pairing of an Italian rider with an Italian bike is thrilling, especially alongside Jorge. Our 2025 lineup with Martin and Bezzecchi was our first choice due to their youth, talent, determination, and grit. Together, we aim to script a new and significant chapter in Aprilia Racing’s history.”
Since his premier class debut in 2022, Bezzecchi has clinched nine podium finishes and secured three race wins. His standout achievement includes a commendable third-place finish in the championship standings during the 2023 season.
In 2025, the pairing of #89 (Martin) and #72 (Bezzecchi) promises to bring fresh and dynamic energy to Aprilia’s factory team lineup.
With Jorge Martin confirmed as the lead rider, currently leading in the title race, and Marco Bezzecchi joining him, Aprilia’s team for the upcoming season will undergo a notable transformation.
This shift aims to establish a younger and potentially more competitive squad, aspiring to transition from sporadic race victories to genuine contention for the championship.
