The rain didn’t stop Md Akid Aziz from dominating the CP150 category in the 2024 Cub Prix Malaysia opener. The reigning champion finished 20 laps in 17 minutes 17.228 seconds, leaving Azroy Hakeem Anuar in second at 17:20.733s and teammate Ahmad Afif Amran in third at 17:21.083s.

Md Akid, 26, credited his success to favourable track conditions, securing a strong start for the remaining nine laps. Despite the rain, he showcased exceptional performance for Petronas Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ Racing in Jasin Bestari.

The 26-year-old rider’s well-performing bike allowed him to lead from the beginning to the end of the race. This created a winning momentum that he considers a good start for the remaining nine laps.

Earlier, the award presentation to the winners was conducted by the State Youth Development, Sports, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Development Exco, V.P. Shanmugam.

Md Akid, from Kuala Lumpur, states that Yamaha JHR Petronas Sprinta’s Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin is among the top contenders this season. He also cited Azroy Hakeem and Afif as potential competition.

Meanwhile, Azroy Hakeem, who secured second place, expressed satisfaction with the race’s outcome as he tried to challenge Md Akid. He noted that the slightly wet track conditions hindered his efforts to compete with Md Akid, who led from the start.

However, Azroy Hakeem, who finished third overall last year, is ready to improve his position and target the overall championship this season.
