Recently, the company has filed a compelling patent application unveiling innovative solutions aimed at tackling common challenges encountered on the road.

Among these advancements is a groundbreaking system designed to mitigate the impact of crosswinds, which are not only discomforting but can also pose significant dangers, particularly if they are excessively strong.

Honda’s solution involves a hybrid device, combining elements of power steering and rotary steering damper technology. Positioned behind the steering head and linked to the steering plate, this pioneering “two-in-one” mechanism promises swift responses to counteract sudden bike displacement caused by crosswinds.

Central to its operation is an electronic control unit, which harnesses data from various sources including speed, acceleration, steering angle, radar, and even a camera, to discern the bike’s trajectory and the rider’s intentions. Remarkably, the system employs a sophisticated algorithm that partitions the lane into multiple virtual lanes, depicted as dashed lines in the patent illustrations, to keep the motorcycle within its intended path.

Complementing this groundbreaking initiative is another inventive concept—a vibrating handlebar grip system. This feature serves as a proactive warning mechanism, activated in scenarios such as inadvertent lane departure or the presence of a vehicle in the blind spot. Drawing inspiration from similar tactile feedback systems in automobiles, Honda’s innovation offers riders tangible alerts through vibrating handlebar grips, enhancing situational awareness and promoting safer riding practices.

With these cutting-edge advancements, Honda is not only pushing the boundaries of motorcycle technology but also setting new standards for rider safety. By harnessing the power of innovation and leveraging advanced electronic systems, the company continues to pave the way towards a safer and more enjoyable riding experience. As these patent applications demonstrate, Honda remains at the forefront of driving progress in the realm of motorcycle safety and performance.
