Acosta Works Harder to Master MotoGP’s RC16 KTM

Embracing the challenge of stepping up to the premier class of the Motorcycle World Championship (MotoGP), Pedro Acosta, the reigning Moto2 and Moto3 world champion, acknowledges the steep learning curve ahead.

Despite his remarkable performance at the recent Sepang Shakedown session, Acosta remains grounded, recognizing the nuances of the RC16 KTM machine as areas for improvement.

Elevated to the ranks of the MotoGP elite with the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team, Acosta clocked the fastest time of one minute and 58.189 seconds during the session.

Although touted as a potential surprise package in his debut MotoGP season, the 19-year-old rider maintains composure, focusing on continually testing his abilities as the official test sessions commence from today until Thursday.

“Over the course of three days, we’ve been working on adapting my riding style and understanding MotoGP tires, alongside seeking the optimal setup for this KTM machine,” Acosta revealed.

“I’m thrilled with the positive results from our initial testing session. We managed to string together some impressive fast laps, but more importantly, we’ve found a good race pace on dry tracks and had the bonus of testing on wet surfaces,” he added.

Striving to emulate the prowess of his mentor Dani Pedrosa, who serves as KTM’s test rider, Acosta acknowledges the challenge ahead. “Trying to match Dani Pedrosa’s performance isn’t an easy task,” he admitted.

As Acosta navigates the complexities of MotoGP, his dedication to mastering the RC16 KTM shines through, underlining his determination to make a mark in the premier class of motorcycle racing.
