Harley-Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer, has recently made a significant move to enhance its presence in Malaysia. The company announced a strategic distribution agreement with Didi Resources, effective from January 1, 2024. This comprehensive partnership encompasses the distribution of motorcycles, parts and accessories, apparel, and licensed products in the Malaysian market.

Exclusive Motorcycle Distribution

Under the newly forged agreement, Didi Resources is set to become the exclusive distributor of Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Malaysia. This means that enthusiasts and riders in the country can expect a more streamlined and focused approach when seeking the legendary Harley-Davidson riding experience.

After-sales service and Exclusive Dealerships

Beyond the distribution of motorcycles, Didi Resources will also be responsible for providing after-sales service through a network of Harley-Davidson brand-exclusive dealerships in Malaysia. This move is aimed at ensuring that Harley-Davidson customers receive top-notch service and support. It also reinforces the brand’s commitment to delivering an unparalleled customer experience.

Non-Exclusive Distribution for Parts, Accessories, Apparel, and Licensed Products

In addition to the exclusive motorcycle distribution, Didi Resources will serve as a non-exclusive distributor for Harley-Davidson parts and accessories, as well as apparel and licensed products. This broader distribution approach allows for greater accessibility to the brand’s merchandise. It caters to a diverse range of customers with varying interests within the motorcycle culture.

Commitment to the Harley-Davidson Experience

Didi Resources has pledged to uphold and deliver the desired Harley-Davidson customer experience in the Malaysian market. This includes the continuation of programs like H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group), which brings together Harley-Davidson enthusiasts and fosters a sense of community among riders. The commitment from Didi Resources aims to maintain and strengthen the connection between the Harley-Davidson brand and its Malaysian customer base.

Harley-Davidson’s Perspective

Sajeev Rajasekharan, Managing Director, of Asia Emerging Markets and India at Harley-Davidson, expressed optimism about the partnership. He highlighted Harley-Davidson’s growth in Malaysia since 2008. He also emphasized the brand’s commitment to delivering a unique and authentic experience to the local riding community. The collaboration with Didi Resources, with their extensive knowledge and experience in the Malaysian automotive market, is expected to further elevate the Harley-Davidson brand in the region.

Didi Resources’ Vision

Rewi Hamid Bugo, Chairman of Didi Resources, conveyed the company’s enthusiasm for collaborating with Harley-Davidson. He expressed a commitment to infuse the spirit of adventure into Malaysia’s riding community. In working towards this, he emphasized the importance of their role in this partnership. Didi Resources has augmented its local team to ensure the successful implementation of developments and programs aligned with Harley-Davidson, ultimately enhancing the value delivered to customers.

Continued Access to Harley-Davidson:

Customers in Malaysia can continue to experience the Harley-Davidson brand and purchase motorcycles and related products at their nearest authorized dealerships. This continuity ensures that Harley-Davidson enthusiasts will have a seamless transition under the new distribution agreement and can confidently explore the brand’s offerings.

Harley-Davidson’s collaboration with Didi Resources marks a strategic step towards strengthening its presence in the Malaysian market. This partnership certainly solidifies the distribution of motorcycles. It also emphasizes a commitment to delivering an authentic Harley-Davidson experience to riders in Malaysia. With Didi Resources’ local expertise and Harley-Davidson’s iconic brand, this venture is poised to create lasting impressions in the hearts of motorcycle enthusiasts across the country.
