In Malaysia, the Yamaha NMAX adds Dark Blue to its color choices, alongside Matte Dark Green and Matte Dark Gray. Furthermore, the Malaysian market provides the Yamaha NMAX in red.

This stylish scooter showcases an attractive color palette and includes front and rear disc brakes, and an affordable price. The only missing feature in the local variant is the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS).

In Malaysia, the NMAX runs on a 155cc engine, whereas the Japanese version utilizes a single-cylinder 4-stroke 124cc SOHC liquid-cooled engine.

The latter engine generates 10hp (12ps) @ 8,000rpm power and 11Nm @ 6,000rpm torque. In comparison, the Japanese Yamaha NMAX 155 produces 13hp (15ps) @ 8,000rpm power and a torque of 14Nm @ 6,500rpm.

Both the 125cc and 155cc versions of the Yamaha NMAX incorporate the Blue Core technology and Smart Motor Generation (SMG) system to enable silent engine startups.

Despite differing engine capacities, both models maintain a 7.1-liter fuel tank and weigh 131kg.

The Yamaha NMAX ABS for 2023 does not feature the Y-Connect capability present in the Yamaha NMAX 155.

As per a May 2021 article, the NMAX 125 ABS comes equipped with Y-Connect, enabling smartphone connectivity.

The Traction Control System (TCS) and Idle Stop System (ISS) are maintained while the price of this maxi scooter is now set at 379,500 yen (RM12,040).

This price variation is also influenced by the shift in currency exchange rates between May 2021 and July 2023.

In the local market, the NMAX 155 (2023) without ABS and Y-Connect can be acquired for a price of RM9,798.
