Heads up! JPJ has called for the recall of the Yamaha YZF-R25, MT-25 and Honda CB250R. Head to your nearest official service centre for the replacement.
Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a ‘product recall’ of several 250cc motorcycles.
Based on its latest post on social media, JPJ issued a ‘product recall’ for Yamaha YZF-R25, MT-25 and Honda CB250R motorcycles.
Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) had already issued recall notices for the two Yamaha models last May. However, due to information not being updated, there were difficulties in contacting the owners. As such, JPJ had to issue a second series of notices.
This second series of notices also saw Boon Siew Honda (BSH) issue a ‘product recall’ notice involving the Honda CBF250NAP. The model name refers to the CB250R.
According to Boon Siew Honda, this recall is to replace the right side ‘crankcase’ cover due to ‘cone plug’ damage which can cause leakage. This recall involves CB250Rs manufactured between July 22, 2022, and August 3, 2022, with chassis numbers from MLHMC5293P5100007 to MLHMC5295P5100008.
Affected owners can contact an official service centre for the replacement. Boon Siew Honda has announced that it will fully bear the replacement costs.
In the meantime, JPJ also urges owners to be more responsible by updating their personal information at the official service centre when it comes to change of ownership.
