Amid palpable anticipation, Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Boon Siew Honda Racing Team emerged as the MSBK1000 A race category victor, setting the stage for an exhilarating season.
In the qualifying session, Kasma Daniel from Yamaha Gen Blu Racing Team dominated, securing pole position with a blazing lap time of 2’06:502s.
However, displaying his prowess, Azroy Hakeem claimed the second spot on the grid at 2’07:417s closely pursued by Azlan Shah of Horizon Racing Team at 2’09:121s.
As the race kicked off, Azroy wasted no time in asserting his authority by snatching the lead. However, the drama intensified as Kasma Daniel made a swift move to overtake Azroy in the second turn, albeit briefly.
Azroy, determined not to let go, and Azlan Shah, equally competitive, quickly reclaim the first and second positions respectively. The first lap showcased the fierce competition that was about to unfold.
During an intense second lap, Azlan seized the lead, but Azroy swiftly countered, reclaiming pole position.By lap 4, Azroy maintained momentum while Kasma Daniel skillfully overtook Azlan Shah.
Tragedy struck for Azlan in the following lap, as he experienced a fall, allowing Osama Mareai to advance. With just three laps remaining, Kasma Daniel upped the ante, closing in on Azroy Hakeem Anuar.
The Honda rider, however, clung steadfastly to his position, his determination palpable. The rivalry between the two riders intensified, with Kasma relentlessly seeking opportunities to attack. Eventually, his persistence paid off as he made a daring move from the inside, momentarily capturing the lead.
Yet, Azroy showcased his resilience once again, promptly regaining his position before an exhilarating final lap.
As the final lap unfolded, Azroy executed a maneuver from the inside, propelling himself forward with a triumphant time of 21’28:822s.
Reflecting on his victory, Azroy shared, “Riding the new Honda for the first time brought an incredible feeling. My aim was to maintain a consistent rhythm and achieve strong lap times. However, as the race neared its end, my tires began to challenge me. Kasma’s speed was impressive, leading to a fierce battle in the final three laps.”
Claiming the second position was Kasma, finishing just milliseconds behind Azroy Hakeem Anuar, with a time of 21’29:081s. The third spot was secured by Osama Mareai from the Savitar Racing Team, who clocked in at 22’37:332s.
In an electrifying showdown, Azroy dominated the MSBK opening round, foreshadowing an intense season and unforgettable track moments.
