Everyone is aware that Edaran Modenas Sdn Bhd (EMOS) is now the official distributor of the Kawasaki brand in Malaysia. The collaboration saw Modenas rebrand the 650cc model and launch several debut models including the Modenas Ninja 250, Z250 and Vulcan S.

Speculations were floating around that Modenas will also launch the Modenas Versys 650 for the local market in July. Lately, we understand that there are already distributors who have started accepting orders for the ‘touring’ segment motorcycles. Interestingly, the name of the model is none other than the Versys 650 ABS.

Modenas Versys ABS 2023

The introduction of the Versys 650 ABS is very much good news for local motorcycle enthusiasts. This is because each Modenas model is fully assembled in Gurun, Kedah. This guarantees a lower price than when it was previously available as a CBU model under the old management.

The latest Modenas Versys 650 comes with a TFT meter panel and a more efficient engine to comply with the Euro 5 standards. At the same time, this latest model also offers KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and ABS functions.

For the record, the Versys 650 features a parallel-twin 649cc 4-stroke DOHC, 8-valve engine with a liquid cooling system. It is capable of producing 65hp and 64Nm at 7,000rpm.
