Aprilia is about to boost the sub-500cc motorcycle market in India by introducing the new RS440.
The ‘entry-level’ segment motorcycle has been spotted undergoing testing in India, recently.
A look at the company’s website reveals that the RS440 will be gearing up for launch sometime next year. The RS440 will compete with the likes of the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400.
Initially, information about the bike’s engine capacity was scarce. However, Indian reports claim that this bike will feature a 440cc parallel-twin engine. The company is likely to have developed the engine from the existing 660cc platform.
In addition, the ‘spy shot’ photo also shows the presence of the ‘underbelly’ exhaust. Interestingly, the overall look of the Aprilia RS440 is also similar to the RS660 including the ‘swingarm’ part.
However, to ensure that this RS440 is within the affordable scope, the model comes with a single disc brake as opposed to a twin on the RS660. However, this 440cc model still comes with premium features including a USD fork.
The manufacturer is likely to produce the RS440 at the Piaggio factory located in Baramati, Pune.
