The Indian motorcycle giant, Bajaj has already launched the Dominar 250 for the country’s market in March 2020 as a smaller variant of the Dominar 400.
The appearance of the 250cc version is to give wide access to customers who want a ‘sport-touring’ motorcycle but at a more affordable price.
The latest news is that we understand that the Dominar 250 will also be introduced in Malaysia. Most likely the model will be introduced around the second quarter (Q2) of this year.
Like the Modenas Dominar 400, the 250cc model will also be marketed with the Modenas badge.
Equipped with the KTM Duke 250 engine, the Dominar 250 joins the ranks of other 250cc displacement machines. This includes the Yamaha R25, Honda CB250, KTM Duke 250 and Ninja 250.
However, as a ‘touring’ concept motorcycle, the 248cc single-cylinder DOHC engine has been tuned. It now produces 27hp at 8,500rpm and 23.5Nm at 6,500rpm. This is lower compared to the DUKE 250 which generates 29.6hp at 9,000rpm and 24Nm at 7,500rpm.
On paper, the Dominar 250 is capable of reaching a maximum speed of around 132km/h.
Based on the overall design, the Dominar 250 still maintains the features found on the Dominar D400. This is except for some significant changes including smaller tires, forks (USD) and brake discs.
Interestingly, this 250 version comes with dual-channel ABS. For the record, the Bajaj Dominar 250 is available at Rs 1.60 lakh (around RM9,061) in India.
