Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has updated the Y16ZR ‘supermoped’ motorcycle with three new colour options. For 2022, the Y16ZR now comes in Glacier White, Phantom Neon and Flaming Silver colours.

According to HLYM, in addition to the new colour options, the price for the model has also increased to RM11,118 (excluding road tax and insurance) compared to RM10,888 previously.

The price increase was expected due to the global motorcycle market being affected by various factors including logistics problems, chip and semiconductor problems and the current weak ringgit currency exchange.

For the record, the Yamaha Y16ZR is still powered by the same 155cc SOHC engine that powers the R15 and MT-15. It is capable of generating 17.7hp at 9,500rpm and 14.4Nm at 8,000rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission (with assist/slipper clutch).

According to Yamaha, the bike is also equipped with an LCD display that offers information on speed, RPM and ‘gear indicator’ while the ‘kill switch’ button is placed on the right ‘handle’.
