Suzuki to introduce V-Strom 250 and GSX-250R in Malaysia?

Suzuki to introduce V-Strom 250 and GSX-250R in Malaysia?

Speculations are that Suzuki Malaysia may be bringing in the V-Strom 250 and GSX-250R to the local market.

Previously, speculations were that Suzuki Malaysia will introduce the Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX for the Malaysian market. The disclosure was made after the model was seen undergoing testing in Malaysia.

However, the latest discovery reveals that the 250cc ‘adventure’ motorcycle from Suzuki may not be the V-Strom 250 SX variant as previously reported. On the other hand, it is likely that Suzuki will be launching the Suzuki V-Strom 250 instead.

Apart from the contrasting designs, the main difference between the V-Strom 250 SX and the V-Strom 250 is in the engine department.

This is because the V-Strom 250 SX is powered by a SOCH single-cylinder engine while the V-Strom 250 is powered by a SOCH parallel-twin engine.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 is a model that was introduced in the United Kingdom market in 2017 while the V-Strom 250 SX is a brand new model that was just launched in April this year.

Meanwhile, another model expected to be introduced for the local market is the Suzuki GSX-250R.

This is based on some images shared by local dealers on Facebook who was present for product training by Suzuki Malaysia.

Pictures clearly show the GSX-250R including the specification attachment of the machinery involved.

For the record, the Suzuki GSX-250R is powered by a 248cc SOHC two-cylinder engine with liquid cooling capable of producing 24.7hp at 8,000rpm and 23.3Nm at 6,500rpm.

The figures apparently put the GSX-250R far behind the Yamaha R25 (35.5hp) and the Honda CBR250RR (41hp).

Although this development will stimulate the local motorcycle market, we can only anticipate Suzuki Malaysia to make an announcement for confirmation.
