In this day and age, more and more people are opting for cashless transactions and many have steered away from the use of cash. As wallets get thinner with cardholders being the new trend, many have steered away from carrying too many bank notes, let alone coins.

With that being said, the staff of a motorcycle shop in Chon Buri province, Thailand were stunned when a customer bought a new Honda PCX 160 unit for 102,500 baht (RM12,418) and made the full payment using coins!

The incident reportedly took place at Akhom Charoen Honda Motorcycles Chon Buri with a photo showing the premises’ staff sitting cross-legged on the floor counting coins.

Sharing on Facebook, the customer said he was saving coins every day to buy the scooter.

The motor shop staff, Suwanna said, the customer called the premises and asked if he was allowed to buy a vehicle but the payment was made using coins. The staff answered ‘yes’.

The staff uploaded this picture to the official Facebook page with the caption: “Guess how many coins there are. The customer told me he saved up every day to buy the PCX160 in cash! Excellent! and we enjoyed counting.“

Pursuant to that, the customer then visited and chose the Honda PCX160 model. The staff then took 20 minutes to count all the coins that were brought in two large boxes.

The customer managed to make things easier for the staff by separating the coins with each plastic package containing 100 baht.

This was not the first time a customer made a payment with just coins. Previously, they had accepted customers who made advance payments using coins, but this was the first time that a customer made a full payment with coins. The staff did not charge additional charge for counting coins.
