Can-Am has plans to sell motorcycles again by launching a pair of electric models for 2024.

The company came into prominence in the 70s and 80s with its gas-powered motorcycles, including a 250cc road racing machine. Recently, it revealed mock-ups of two new all-electric bikes at its Club BRP Global Product Reveal.

Bombardier Recreational Products, the parent company of Can-Am, made an announcement in March that it will be making a comeback to the two-wheeler market with electric machines. Despite that, information regarding the bike is still scarce. Company officials stated that the models, Origin and Pulse, may go on sale in the spring on 2024. The Origin is an off-road adventure-style bike whereas its counterpart Pulse is an on-road naked roadster.

Can-Am says that the bikes will be powered by its proprietary electric power pack technology, the all-new Rotax E-Power. Users can charge the bikes at home or at existing on-road Level 2 (fast charging) automotive chargers. The bikes will use direct drive without a clutch or transmission. The prototype Pulse features a single rear shock, inverted forks, cast wheels and a single-sided swingarm. The Origin, on the other hand, has spoke rims more appropriate for an off-road application.

In the previous year 2021, BRP announced that not only will fully electric vehicles be available in all of its product lines but that it was expanding its Rotax electric power unit development infrastructure in Gunskirchen, Austria. BRP also has plans to create the BRP Electric Vehicle Development Centre in Quebec, Canada.
