After two years since it was shown to the public at the launch of the 2020 National Automotive Policy, MODENAS finally officially introduced several rebranded Kawasaki models.
Three models were launched for the local market today through MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS, Ninja 250 and Z250 ABS.
Based on the previous Kawasaki Ninja 250 ABS model, the MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS also comes with the same features including the engine that still remains based on the 249cc DOHC ‘parallel-twin’ platform, with liquid cooling that produces 36hp at 12,500rpm and 23Nm at 10,000rpm.
The power is channelled to the rear tire through a 6-speed transmission with the help of an ‘assist/slipper’ clutch.
Among other features also offered are front and rear disc brakes with ABS function while the suspension system includes telescopic forks at the front and monoshock at the rear.
In addition, this MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS also comes with front and rear LED lights, a semi-digital and analogue meter and a 14L tank. This model carries a price tag of RM20,500.
Also introduced to the local market is the MODENAS Z250 ABS which is a ‘naked’ motorcycle concept. Despite appearing with a different design, this Z250 ABS is also powered by a 249cc DOHC ‘parallel-twin’ engine that produces 36hp and 23Nm.
Compared to the ‘full-fairing’ design on the Ninja 250 ABS, the Z250 ABS features a naked design with Sugomi elements that Kawasaki applies to all existing ‘hypernaked’ models.
As a result, the Z250 ABS is lighter at only 165kg. It comes with a 41mm telescopic front fork, front 310mm brake disc
ABS with Nissin brake callipers as well as a semi-digital screen. This model is priced at RM19,500.
