The world’s first electric scooter championship has already been confirmed to take place in East London this May.
London Docklands will be the inaugural meeting ground between the world’s e-scooter riders who will race at speeds of over 100km/h with their respective machines.
Meanwhile, the organizers, who are also lined up with Formula E and Le Mans champions, Lucas Di Grassi and Alex Wurz, promise an intense race.
“We started as a blank canvas. We’re creating a new sport and it’s like reworking the sport of racing.
“The race will be intense and will see women and men compete against each other,” said co-founder Hrag Sarkissian.
It is understood that the riders must first qualify through the screening round with each round involving six riders.
The winner will then move on to another 12 rounds before deciding who will qualify for the finals.
Among the big names who will take part in the inaugural race is Olympic speed skater Elise Christie, BMX world champion Tre White and Goose medal winner Billy Morgan.
All participants will compete using S1x electric scooters developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering. The electric scooter is powered by two 6kW motors with the help of a 1.33kWH battery.
