Compared to the second generation MT-09, this third-generation clearly comes with a brand new design for 2021.
The Yamaha MT-09 2021 now comes with an 890cc three-cylinder (larger than the previous model) engine that now generates 117hp and 93Nm.
This all-new engine is a step forward for Yamaha in complying with Euro5 emissions which will take effect next year.
Although the displacement is larger, this engine is lighter than the previous generation.
The 6-speed transmission system comes with an assist/slipper clutch surrounded by a Deltabox frame in addition to a new subframe.
In fact, the swingarm is also lighter with the use of aluminium material, so the Yamaha MT-09 2021 weighs only 189 kilograms.
The braking system comes via Nissin callipers and 298mm brake discs on the front and radial master cylinders with KYB front forks and adjustable rear shock absorbers (preload and rebound).
More interestingly, Yamaha also equips the MT-09 2021 with a six-axis IMU unit that offers ean-angle sensitive traction control, slide control, ABS cornering, rear-lift mitigation as found on the YZF-R1.
Among other interesting features offered include a 3.5 -inch TFT display, a quick-shifter with auto-blipper LED headlights with DRL. Meanwhile, according to HLYM, the price for MT-09 2021 will only be officially announced on November 21.
