Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati will be the official supplier of electric motorcycles for the MotoE World Cup starting 2023. This comes after the news of Energica no longer being the official motorcycle for the MotoE world cup after 2022.
Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali and Dorna Sports CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta made the announcement during a special press conference at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli last week.
This is a historic step for the Borgo Panigale brand. It will be taking its first step in producing electrical machinery.
MotoE is also seen as the best testing platform for the Italian brand to develop electric motorcycle technology and innovation which later allows the same concept to be transferred to the production stage.
According to Domenicali, the deal opens a new chapter for Ducati.
“We are very proud of this cooperation, especially since it is quite historic for our company.
“Ducati is always looking ahead. Every time we enter a new era, our focus is to produce the best high-performance products.
“We will work hard to ensure that every rider who competes in MotoE receives high-performance and lightweight machinery,” he adds.
