Buell Motorcycle Co. has announced that it would begin producing the Buell Hammerhead 1190. The company will be taking reservations for the sportbike starting November 1.

With the brand’s revival, currently based in Cascade Township, the company has certainly made good its promise to produce the new bikes in the Grand Rapids area.

Buell has maintained its presence as one of the most iconic American superbike brands for the past 35 years. Founder Erik Buell started off the company more than three decades ago. Formerly owned by Harley-Davidson, Bill Melvin and his Grand Rapids-based company, Liquid Asset Partners LLC soon acquired the assets to Erik Buell Racing LLC in 2016.

Melvin and his company earned the right to use the Buell Motorcycles name in April 2020. as he announced plans to revive the brand and set up shop in Grand Rapids.

“When we said ‘Buell is Back,’ we meant it,” Melvin, CEO of Buell Motorcycle Co., said in a statement.

“We have former executives from Buell, General Motors, Lotus Engineering, Toyota and Bombardier Recreational Products ensuring we are manufacturing and developing the highest quality products.

“Now we are putting the finishing touches on our factory. We will be kicking off production of the Best American Superbike on Nov. 1.”

Earlier this year, Buell Motorcycle announced that it plans to release 10 performance models by the year 2024. Apart from that, it may also be producing an innovative online ordering and delivery system for its bikes called Buellvana.
