In case you missed out, Triumph has revealed its latest Speed Triple 1200 RS with what seems to be a full fairing and race-ready aero. Featuring a 177-horsepower engine, the bike weighs approximately 436 pounds.
Triumph has intentionally spared the details of the bike with barely any hints to the full specifications. Triumph has only let viewers catch a glimpse of the new Speed Triple 1200 RR in its video. The short teaser shows few close-up shots of the bike in silhouette. Even that leaves not much room for imagination as the lower half of the bike is not shown.
The standard Speed Triple, and the upgraded Speed Triple RS, are both naked sportbikes. This RR, however, seems like it will have a full fairing. The Speed Triple does not actually race in any categories, so there is no saying what Race this is Replicating.
Fully faired Triumphs are usually seen in Daytonas. RideApart and Jalopnik have both argued that the new model should just adopt the same name. However, since there is already a 765 Moto 2 Daytona, and the two bikes are not related, this seems unlikely. Not to mention, it is also unlikely that the Speed Triple would grace Daytona. It would need a whole new engine and modifications to make it eligible to race with MotoAmerica.
All Triumph says is that the new bike is “coming soon”. There is no saying how soon but what we do know is that the reveal will take its own sweet time, leaving enthusiasts in anticipation.
