CFMoto will soon launch a sportier version of its 250cc sports bike 250SR which made its global debut last year. The new motorcycle will bear the name 250SR-R and CFMoto will be revealing it through a type-approval document in China.

Sources confirm that there are also speculations of a sportier iteration of the 300SR called 300SR-R. The 300SR-R will likely make its debut following the reveal of its counterpart. CFMoto has maintained the tradition of adding an extra “R” at the end of the name for its more exciting versions of the sports bike.

Both bikes will feature the same power source delivering the same output. Powering the 250-R-R is a 249.2cc single-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out 29bhp just as the 250SR. Despite that, performance is better overall due to the reduction in the bike’s kerb weight. The 250SR weighs 165kg, and the 250SR-R caps a weight of 157kg which mounts to a drop of 8kg. The improves the power to weight ratio.

The adoption of lightweight materials in elements has also contributed to the reduction in weight. The bike’s hardware comes with a single-sided swingarm instead of a double-sided swingarm in the 250SR. Complementing the swingarms are the front USD golden forks. The model sees a lot of cosmetic enhancements such as a larger pair of carbon fibre (or wrapped in a carbon-effect finish) winglets on the sides of the fairing.

CFMoto expects to retain the 250SR-R’s sporty and futuristic vibes for the exterior designs with minimal variations. Both the upcoming 250SR-R and 300SR-R have been designed by the KISKA designs. They have created designs for most models in CFMoto and all KTM models.

The Chinese bikemaker is also working towards developing a dedicated lineup of electric two-wheelers. CFMoto plans to retail those bikes under its new sub-brand Zeeho.
