Bastianini leads the table by four points over Jorge Martn, with 27 points, . Lorenzo Savadori and Luca Marini are further back.
Luca Marini , 20th with 14 points
VR46 The Sky Avintia Italian is the only rookie who has finished all of the races so far. He has three best results of 12th place and has taken advantage of the opportunity to gain experience in the class. It has steadily improved, scoring points in five of the nine races, but has yet to surprise with one or two outstanding performances.
Lorenzo Savadori , 23rd with 4 points
In the home stretch of the 2020 season, the Aprilia driver competed in the larger class, finishing three races in place of Bradly Smith, all without points. The season begins with more MotoGP races than the other rivals, but the extra experience has not translated into good results. He didn’t finish two races and only scored in three, with the best result being a 14th place at Portimão. The difference for his team-mate is like overnight and he will have to make a big second part of the season if he wants to be able to keep his place at Aprilia, who are trying to negotiate with Andrea Dovizioso and Maverick Viñales.
Enea Bastianiani , 16th with 27 points
Even though he lacks the confidence to go further, the rookie leader has known how to take advantage of opportunities to show service. He only finished two races, and of the seven in which he did, he only scored once, finishing one place behind the points. In nine races, he has three top ten, one of them in his first race in the class. He hasn’t yet had a moment of brilliance, but being ahead in the championship as an experienced driver with victories and titles to his name, like Valentino Rossi or Danilo Petrucci, is proof of the young man’s hard work this year.
Jorge Martín , 18th with 23 points
If there is a rookie who has already left a mark on this edition of the World Cup, it will have to be Jorge Martín. The Pramac youngster finished second among rookies this year, surprising everyone with pole position in Qatar in the second race of the season. As if that wasn’t enough, he also had a great match, finishing third on the podium. He has nearly the same number of points as Bastianini, but he has only raced in five of the nine events this year. After a crash and injury in Portimão, he didn’t finish one race and missed four others.
