With the drivers starting for the second and final race of the day, Jorge Prado won the holeshot. Behind the KTM rider were Romain Febvre and Tim Gajser at an early stage of the race in which Glenn Coldenhoff had a crash. Febvre, on the other hand, had also featured in a takedown and would return to the race ahead of sixth-placed Arminas Jasikonis. At the front, Prado held a 2.3-second lead over Tim Gajer, who had done the fastest lap of the race in the meantime, and Brian Bogers was third. Jorge Prado, Tim Gajser, Brian Bogers, Antonio Cairoli, and Ben Watson… who would later lose position to Febvre… were the top five. Gajser showed no signs of lowering his arms and reduced the gap on the race lead to 1.8 seconds. Later, the Honda rider set a new fastest lap time of 1.1s. Gajser responded by catching up and passing Prado with three laps to go, despite losing just under half a second to the lead. Antonio Cairoli caught up with his factory mate as the #243 pulled away from the Spaniard and began discussing second place as if it were a victory. After passing Prado, the Italian attacked and tried to overtake Gajser, while Febvre, in fourth place, reached #61. Cairoli overtook Gajser on the final lap and gained enough of a lead to prevent his opponent from responding. As a result, the nine-time world champion won the second race, followed by Gajser and Prado.
