Yamaha R/World Teaser Revealed – Yamaha YZF-R7 Is on the Way?

Yamaha R/World Teaser Revealed – Yamaha YZF-R7 Is on the Way?

Yamaha’s latest ” Track. Street. R / World.” teaser hints at the arrival of the Yamaha YZF-R7! Here are the details!

Yamaha Motor Europe has officially released a teaser post for an incoming model. The video teaser title “Track. Street. R/World.” with the caption “R/World is coming your way with something new. Soon. #RWorld” features shots of an unknown model blasting through the track and winding roads.

It’s not entirely clear which model the teaser refers to, however, the exhaust note that’s in the teaser clip sounds to be from a high geared torquey CP2 parallel twin-engine. So what does this mean?  Judging from the title and the exhaust note on the teaser video, we speculate it’s the earlier rumoured MT-07 based “Yamaha YZF-R7” that’s on the way.

Speaking of the bike, earlier reports suggested that the middleweight Yamaha YZF-R7 would get a full fairing design similar to the other “R” models. The YZF-R7 is said to be based on the naked Yamaha MT-07 therefore the model is expected to make use of MT-07’s 689cc CP2 engine, frame, electronic package, braking and suspension components with a few obvious tweaks and updates.

Looking at the engine, the 689cc DOHC parallel-twin CP2 engine from the updated MT-07 is reliable and also Euro 5 compliant, so the idea of Yamaha using the MT-07 platform to create an all-new fully faired sports bike does feasible.  Especially with the Yamaha YZF-R6 out of the picture, we have a strong feeling about this one.

Speaking of the launch, sources speculate the upcoming model to be officially launched by May 2021. With bikes like the Aprilia RS 660 out in the wild, we are really looking forward to seeing what Yamaha has up its sleeves!
