Grab Malaysia kicked off a campaign, giving Malaysians the opportunity to earn supplemental income on the platform and the chance to win prizes worth more than RM150,000. Through its Rider Raya Bergaya contest, there are 166 prizes to be won – offering one Grand Prize winner the chance to win a Yamaha MT-25 motorcycle signed by our very own MotoGP racer, Hafizh Syahrin, and five second-prize winners the chance to take home RM10,000 each, in cash or bitcoin.

There are also cash prizes of RM1,000 and RM500 to be given out to the other consolation winners. From 24 April to 31 May 2021, new and existing delivery partners who either sign up or recommend someone onto the platform will earn entries. By simply completing a slogan, partners will stand a chance to win these exciting prizes. Following a challenging year, Grab intends to continue providing more earning opportunities and an income safety net for those who join the platform. The Rider Raya Bergaya contest is Grab’s invitation to discover quick and easy access to fair, sustainable and productive earnings.

“Grab’s mission from the start has been to empower Malaysians by creating safe, equal, and inclusive income opportunities. Last year alone, Grab saw substantial growth among the community of drivers and delivery partners. We are fully committed to ensuring that platform work continues to play a key role in supporting the Malaysian household,” said Rashid Shukor, Director, Country Operations, Grab Malaysia.

According to the Department of Statistics, Malaysia’s unemployment rate stood at 4.8% in February 2021, with 777,500 of people being unemployed. The tech-driven gig economy could help Malaysians, not only to supplement a healthy household income, but also to provide additional earning opportunities to help tide them over in times of need.

More benefits for the community

Beyond earnings, Grab is well-positioned to lead the way in looking after the wellbeing and stability of its partners. Through GrabBenefits, a benefits programme for partners in the gig economy, partners have access to better quality and relatively safer work opportunities and financial security – such as reduction in operating costs, insurance, professional development and more.

“At Grab, we truly believe that if we look after our community, they will take good care of the consumers. They are much more than just partners – they are our ambassadors; they are the very reason for Grab to exist. To us, they represent the hard work and diversity upon which this nation was founded. Above all else, we hope to ensure that our partners’ honest, hard work pays off and brings a better quality of life to their families,” concluded Rashid.

Winners of the Rider Raya Bergaya contest will be announced at Grab’s virtual Raya open house on 5 June 2021.
