Marc Marquez  confirmed that he will return to racing with Repsol Honda ahead of the Portuguese Grand Prix on April 18.

MotoGP top gun Marc Marquez will be making his return to the track after being given the green light by the Hospital Ruber Internacional medical team.

After recuperating for four months after surgery, the team found that Marquez was in a very satisfactory clinical condition. The team is led by Doctors Samuel Antuña and Ignacio Roger de Oña, and made up of Doctors De Miguel, Ibarzabal and García Villanueva. In the current situation, Marquez can return to competition, assuming the reasonable risk implicit in his sporting activity.

The six-time MotoGP world champion will be on board his RC213V with the aim to improve Repsol Honda Team‘s performance. The team is currently sitting sixth and last in the constructors’ standings with only 11 points after the Qatar rounds. New Repsol Honda rider Pol Espargaro was the top RCV rider in both Losail races, finishing 8th and 13th respectively.

“They have been 9 difficult months, with moments of uncertainties and ups and downs, and now, finally, I will be able to enjoy my passion again! See you next week in Portimao!!” Marquez posted via social media.

Maequez suffered a broken arm during the Spanish GP which was the season opener of the campaign last season. Thus, the Spaniard missed the remaining 13 races in the 2020 MotoGP calendar.

As a result of the injury, Marquez underwent a third surgery in December last year that required him to undergo a recovery process for at least a minimum of six months.

Although Marquez’s injury is expected to fully heal in June 2021, his condition is gradually recovering more quickly and his return has certainly cheered the Honda camp, who has been struggling to bag a victory.
