Folks here is an archive of all the news updates related to the Honda CBR250RR in Malaysia.

Honda CBR250RR

The twin-cylinder Honda CBR250RR was first introduced by Astra Honda Motor in Indonesia. Following its debut in 2016, the production model rolled out of Honda Indonesia’s production line in 2017. Unlike now, back in the 90s, Honda’s CBR250RR range featured an inline four-cylinder engine.  In fact, the current CBR250RR is the very first CBR RR model range to have a twin-cylinder engine.

Honda CBR250RR Race Support Programme

Speaking of the new Honda CBR250RR in Malaysia, ever since the bike was first launched in Indonesia, it’s been one of the much anticipated Honda motorcycles in Malaysia.

Things finally took a turn in 2020 when Boon Siew Honda launched the Honda CBR250RR Race support programme. The idea behind this programme was to uplift the motorcycle racing scene in Malaysia.

Speaking of the programme, Boon Siew Honda offers a race-prepared Honda CBR250RR for enthusiastic riders to take part in 2021 MSBK (Malaysia Superbike Championship) 250 subclass.

Prepared in line with the MSBK250 class regulations by Boon Siew Honda, the basic spec of the bike is actually valued at MYR 50,000. However, BSH currently offers this programme at a discounted price of MYR 30,000 to capture the interest of riders and teams to take part in this year’s MSBK250 class.

Honda CBR250RR Debut in Malaysia

Speaking of the standard Honda CBR250RR, following the launch of the Honda CBR250RR Race Support Programme, rumours on the roadgoing Honda CBR250RR coming to Malaysia spread like wildfire. In October 2020, certain Honda dealers in Malaysia had already started taking in pre-bookings for the Honda CBR250RR prior to the official launch which in fact confirmed the earlier rumours.

After a lot of speculations and rumours, Boon Siew Honda officially pulled the cover off the Honda CBR250RR in December 2020. In case you didn’t know, the CBR250RR that we get in Malaysia is equivalent to the highest spec Honda CBR250RR SP that’s offered in Indonesia. Having said that, compared to competitors like the Yamaha YZF-R25, the Honda CBR250RR comes equpieed with an array of rider aids such as assist and slipper clutch, quick shifter, throttle by wire and 3 riding modes and two-channel ABS in Malaysia.

Honda CBR250RR Specification

Speaking of the bike, the CBR250RR inherits CBR series’ sharp bodywork with dual-LED headlights upfront and a narrow tail section with integrated LED taillamps. Without a doubt, the CBR250RR is a stunner which wouldn’t fail to turn heads.

On the inside, the CBR250RR features a full LCD instrument cluster with an inbuilt lap timer as well.

The CBR250RR is built around a steel truss frame and features an aluminium swingarm. In the case of suspension, the CBR250RR features a 37mm inverted telescopic front fork and a 5-way adjustable monoshock at the rear with Pro-link.

Braking duties are taken care of by a 2 piston Nissin calliper with 310mm disc up front and a Nissin single-piston calliper with 210mm disc at the rear. Two-channel ABS is also standard on the Honda CBR250RR.

In the case of the engine, the 2020 Honda CBR250RR is powered by a 250cc twin-cylinder DOHC 8-valve engine. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch, the CBR250RR pushes 40.23 hp [30kW] @ 13,000 rpm and a peak torque of 25 Nm @  11,000 rpm. The CBR250RR also comes with a quick shifter, throttle by wire and 3 riding modes.

Honda CBR250RR Price in Malaysia

The Honda CBR250RR is priced at RM 25,999 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration fee) in Malaysia and is available in two colours: Winning Red and Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic.
