UPDATE: 2021 Honda PCX 160 Launched in Thailand!

In December 2020, Honda Japan launched the all-new PCX, PCX 160 and PCX e: HEV/ Hybrid. In case you missed our coverage, read it here. The first non-Japanese market that Honda is planning on introducing the all-new Honda PCX 160 is Thailand.

Honda Motorcycles Thailand just hosted a media test ride event for the PCX 160 prior to its official launch. The event called ” Under Wraps” took place on the 5th of January 2021, where Honda put up a few camouflaged Honda PCX 160 units for media to test ride. Although it’s pictured in camo, the overall design looks very similar to recently launched Japanese Honda PCX 160.

Yes, the Honda PCX 125 and PCX 160 both look alike, however, Thai media that attended the event reports it’s the Honda PCX 160 that was given to them for testing. Speaking of the PCX 160, it is powered by a newly developed water-cooled 4-stroke 156cc single-cylinder engine that comes equpieed with Honda’s eSP+ technology.

In the case of electronics, the PCX 160 in Japan gets Honda Selectable Torque Control ( Traction control), LED lighting, an all-new colour instrument cluster as well as front and rear disc brakes with 1 channel ABS.

On the creature comfort side, Honda has expanded the storage space from 28L to 30L with a new inbuilt USB C charging socket to charge smart devices.

PCX 160 Hits ASEAN Market

2021 Honda PCX 160

When Honda Japan launched the updated PCX range, we speculated Honda would soon replace the ongoing PCX 150 model with the PCX 160. Judging from how things are turning around, it looks like Honda is starting to do just that. So what do you think, would the ongoing PCX 150 model get the same treatment in Malaysia or other Asian markets? Feel free to tell us what you think in the comment section below!
