Aprilia Unviels 221 Horsepower Track-Only Aprilia Tuono V4 X

Last week we reported on an Aprilia Tuono with MotoGP aerodynamics going through testing. Well, here it is! It’s the Aprilia Tuono V4 X!

Aprilia Tuono V4 X

Aprilia launched the limited track-only RSV4 X last year around the same time. In case you forgot, the Aprilia RSV4 X made its Asian debut in Malaysia earlier in January 2020. Well, with little over 8 months and the COVID-19 outbreak later; Aprilia unveils the naked version of the RSV4 X, the Aprilia Tuono V4 X!

Just as the RSV4 X, only 10 units of the Tuono V4 X will be produced. Which makes the Tuono V4 X one of the most desirable hyper naked bikes on the planet. The Aprilia Tuono V4 X comes with a tonne of carbon fibre components covered in “Bol d’Or” graphic inspired by the Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory which participated in the 2006 edition of the legendary French endurance race. Aprilia says this MotoGP aerodynamic package on the “Super Tuono”  increases stability at high speeds, braking and acceleration.

Talking about MotoGP tech, aside from the MotoGP aerodynamics; the Akrapovic exhaust with titanium collectors with carbon outlet and Sprint Filter air filter are the same unit that Aprilia Racing uses in MotoGP.

In the case of the engine, the RSV4 1100 Factory derived engine pushes 221 HP at the crank. Aside from pumping out 221 buff horses, Aprilia has done a lot of work in shedding the weight off the bike, from the carbon fibre components to the magnesium Marchesini wheels, Aprilia is serious about making this bike go FAST.

Aprilia Racing fine-tuned the ECU to revamp engine control and vehicle dynamics. The engine maps are all “full power” and optimised for the racing exhaust system. Aprilia says the engine brake, traction control and anti-wheelie levels are specifically designed for track use. Other track-oriented features include electronic gearbox (with downshifting) and the colour TFT instrument cluster with GPS lap time display.

As for the suspension, the Tuono V4 X comes with Öhlins suspension set up with Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension system. In the case of the braking system; GP4-MS billet aluminium calliper with T drive technology and 9 x 16 radial billet aluminium master cylinder take care of the business.

Aprilia Tuono V4 X Price

Limited to just 10 units, the Aprilia Tuono V4 X is priced at €34,900/ MYR 173,245 and it is already available for booking online. With this Tuono V4 X hyper naked, buyers get the opportunity to pick their unit directly from Aprilia Racing and have a tour of the racing facility in Noale. Aside from this, buyers also get a dedicated KYT NX-Race helmet with graphics inspired by the bike’s livery.

Aleix Espargaró who put the Tuono v4 X through its paces on the Austrian Red Bull Ring circuit:

“The Tuono V4 X is out of this world. I had never tested a high-handlebar bike on the track and I was surprised at the feeling of stability. The engine is insane, but the chassis architecture doesn’t struggle – to the contrary: the riding position and the electronics make it extremely fun. You can ride it cleanly, but you can also drift with it if you want to. It is a pure sportbike with a hooligan side!”
