2020 Honda Rebel 500 Malaysia Launch – 2/9/2020

Honda’s middleweight cruiser, Honda Rebel made its first Malaysian debut back in 2017. Honda Rebel’s classic aesthetics, contemporary bobber styling and the endless possibility for customisation has made the Rebel one of the desirable middleweight cruiser in the segment.

Being a blank canvas, the pillion pad and rear pegs are now easily removable for customisation. Aside from this, the new 120mm “shotgun” style exhaust with Euro 4 compliance further enhances the “Bobber-ness” of the bike.

In the case of the engine, the Rebel is powered by a 471cc, 8-valve liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine sourced from the CBR500R. This engine pushes 34kW / 45.5 hp at 8,500 rpm and 43.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Honda says the PGM-FI fuel injection mapping with different valve and ignition timing shifts the high rpm performance of the CBR  to a more torque-heavy bottom-end. This ensures smooth and linear power delivery.

The 2020 Honda Rebel now comes with assist/ slipper clutch for a well fit ride. Aside from this, Honda has done some work on the ergonomics too. To begin with, the seat has been improved for the rider’s comfort. Other than this, the front fork and rear spring rates have been tweaked, where Honda has added in nitrogen-charged twin Showa shock absorbers with reshaped damper rubbers to ensure a smooth ride. Being a cruiser, the low Slung tubular steel frame blends in with all these features to provide a well-balanced natural riding position.

New for 2020, the Honda Revel now comes with full LED lightings, this includes; LED indicators, 175mm LED headlight, thin oval taillight and license plate light.

Aside from this, the Rebel comes with a compact 100mm white backlight display which now features a gear indicator and a fuel consumption display.

As for the colour options, the 2020 Honda Rebel comes in three colours: Matte Jeans Blue Metallic, Matte Armored
Silver Metallic and Graphite Black.

As for the pricing, the 2020 Honda Rebel 500 is priced at RM 32,899 excluding road tax, insurance, and registration. Note: Boon Siew Honda offers 2 years or 20,000km manufacturing warranty (whichever comes first) for this model.  BSH announced the Honda Rebel would be available at Honda BigWing dealerships nationwide starting tomorrow (3rd September 2020).
