2020 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Unleashed!

MV Agusta reveals the new 2020 MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR which brings a balanced choice of; style, technical components and dynamic development onto the road.

MV Agusta initially revealed the Serie Oro some time back and in June they showcased the limited edition 1 of 1 MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR ML. As for July, MV Agusta starts the month off with a new Brutale; the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR!

In short, the new Brutale 1000RR comes along with the same design and technical refinement as the Serie Oro. With the new Brutale, the designers and engineers have worked on in to provide the best; technology, style and ease of control. MV Agusta says, their goal is to offer a bike with the best performing bike with an exceptional chassis, engine and electronic package while being able to be ridden with minimal effort.

2020 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Specs

 Design

In the case of the design, the new Brutale follows the distinctive lines and forms of the four-cylinder Brutale family. However, the new Brutale features an all-new headlight, fuel tank and tail fairing design.

In the case of the new full LED headlights, the cornering lights improve illumination; where, the light beam’s angle and direction change with the position of the bike. Aside from this, the X-shape section within the headlight (exclusive to this model) and the day time running light makes the new Brutale look good from any angle.

The Brutale 1000 RR and the Serie Oro models are virtually identical; the Brutale 1000 RR looking very similar to the Serie Oro also comes with an array of carbon-fibre elements. However, the Brutale 1000RR uses bolts and screws made out of steel instead of titanium. Aside from this, unlike the Serie Oro’s carbon-fibre rims, the 1000RR comes with forged aluminium rims. However, thanks to special weight specifications and design, the new 1000RR attains an overall dry weight of 186 kg.

The 2nd generation 5 inch TFT colour display on the new Brutale can be used by the rider to customise settings on the bike via the handlebar controls. Aside from this, the instrument cluster also allows Bluetooth connectivity where calls, messages, navigation and music can be managed. This instrument cluster also supports mirroring through the MV Ride App.

Chassis, suspension and brakes

The dimension of the chassis is identical to the Series Oro (wheelbase of 1,414mm and a front-wheel trail of 97mm).  The new Brutale comes in with an evolved “mixed structure” with aluminium side plates and steel lattice to go in with the performance of the engine. Aside from this, careful attention to aerodynamics, this naked RR can reach a top speed of 300kmph.  In the case of the suspension, the Öhlins Nix EC electronic adjustable fork at the front Öhlins TTX rear shock mounted to the aluminium single-sided swing arm takes care of the business. The RR comes with manual adjustment for spring preload and also Öhlins EC electronic steering damper, which adjusts itself based on the bike’s speed.

As for brakes, just like the Serie Oro, the new Brutale also features Brembo Stylema front callipers with 320mm floating discs. At the rear, the 220mm disc with ducal-piston calliper takes care of braking. Aside from this, the BOSH ABS 9 plus system with race mode assists braking effectively.

Engine and electronics

In the case of the engine, just like the Serie Oro, the new RR also features the latest inline-four-cylinder engine. MV Agusta says the latest redesigned engine stands out for its significant redesign; ” from the use of the finest materials and a complete review of electronic-management parameters that have been refined from the previous version.”  Thanks to this, the new Brutale 1000RR puts out 208hp at 13,450 rpm and 116.5 Nm of torque!

Formula 1 and MotoGP Tech at work

The new line of MV Agusta four-cylinder engine uses Formula 1 and MotoGP technology.  The radial valves in the combustion chamber utilize F1 tech whereas the titanium piston rods derived from MotoGP tech reduces the mass, load and inertia of the engine. Aside from this, the central timing chain is also a MotoGP machine inspired component which lowers the torsional effect of the camshafts at high rpm. On top of this, the new engine comes with new; valve guides and camshafts, low friction Asso piston rings and a balanced crankshaft.

Furthermore, the new engine features a splitter lubrication system; which separates the oil from moving components. In the case of the semi-dry-sump, it ensures the bike is in riding condition during high lean angles and wheelies. Aside from the enhancement on the engine; MV Agusta says they worked on reducing friction level and also on the transmission with revamped gears which lowers friction and noise.

On top of this, the redesigned airbox maximizes engine efficiency, power and torque. The Brutale 1000 RR comes with an Arrow Exhaust system which uses 4-1-4 set-up, which maximises torque at lower rpm.

As for engine management; MV Agusta worked with Eldor which created a new EM 2.0 control unit for the new platform. The bike comes with full ride by wire multimap system; with four different modes: Sport, Race, Rain and Custom. As for the electronic package; the RR comes with traction control with slip strategies, front lift control, anti-wheelie system, launch control and electronic EAS 2.1 up and down gearbox as standard.

Pricing and Availability

MV Agusta hasn’t announced the price or availability yet, however, we believe MV Agusta would announce the details in the upcoming weeks.
