Before we get into the details, let’s have a brief look at the Yamaha RXZ. Launched in 1985, the production of this bike for over 20 years until 2011. The RX-Z has been one of the most popular bikes among youngsters in Malaysia.  When brand-new, the bike was sold for around RM 8,500; however, after the production ended in 2011, the price of RX-Z has been increasing slowly.

Throughout the production run, there have been three different versions of the Yamaha RXZ. To begin with, the first RXZ generation came in with a; 135cc, 2 Stroke engine with 5-speed gearbox and solid front disc brakes. After gaining popularity with this mode,

Yamaha launched the 2nd version; The Boss which featured an upgraded engine with a six-speed gearbox. On top of this, it featured newer instrument panel and handlebar switches as well as front disc brakes. Throughout the production run of the 2nd model, there have numerous Boss editions. Along this line, one of the Boss models that ran for a limited time is the “Millennium RXZ” that was manufactured from the year 2000: Yes, this is the model that’s on sale for RM 70,000 now.

The 3rd RXZ generation, RXZ Catalyzer version was launched by  Hong Leong Yamaha in 2004. This model received brand-new body panels, catalytic converter and a few updates on the engine. Since 2004 the model remained fairly unchanged with minor changes in bodywork and decal kits until the production came to an end in 2011.

Now, let’s find out why this Millennium Yamaha RXZ  is worth RM 70,000.

There were mixed feelings about the Millennium RXZ selling for such a hefty sum so we decided to get in touch with the owner to find out the details. The owner told us that all the parts from A-Z are brand-new and it is very difficult to find these brand-new parts from years ago. The reason these parts are hard to the source is that unlike the newer Catalyzer models, the original brand-new parts for Millennium model are ultra-rare and cannot be bought simply from spare parts shops.

We also looked around for brand-new parts to get an idea and we found out they are rare and cost a lot! On top of this, the owner told us, this is more of a collection item because of its pristine condition and rarity. So for these reasons, this Millennium RXZ in brand-new showroom condition rolls in with the RM 70,000 pricetag!

Our opinion on this 70k RXZ?

Well, we agree with the condition and rarity of this pristine RXZ. As for the price, since this is the very first RXZ we have ever seen in this condition that comes with all brand-new parts from almost 20 years ago, it makes it very hard to comment. However, the owner told us, the best offer he got for this bike is RM 65,000, from this we can somewhat see there are people still willing pay to get a hold of this bike.

If you are a collector this would be something for you. Well, who knows, maybe in a few years the price could hike even more. We also heard, white Millennium cover sets are selling out fast ever since this bike broke the internet. On top of this, soon after this bike made it to the wild; we also came across a Thai Spec Honda EX-5 selling for RM 70,000!
