New 2020 Yamaha Y15ZR V3 / Yamaha Exciter RC 155 VVA V3 Spotted with new bodywork, electronics and engine! Here are the specs and details of the upcoming Y15ZR V3!
Few images of an updated Yamaha Exciter (known as Y15ZR in Malaysian market) have been leaked out. These photos of the Yamaha Exciter RC 2020 in cargo containers have been circulating around Facebook and WhatsApp groups with the caption: “1 unit of Yamaha Y15ZR V3 2020 arrived in Hong Leong Yamaha for testing”. However, although we know the bike is real, there are no sufficient details to prove this bike is a test unit for Malaysia.
The Yamaha Y15ZR V3 in Malaysia is known as the Yamaha Exciter RC in other markets. From the leaks, it’s safe to assume the new “Exciter RC 2020” in the leak is more likely the upcoming 2020 Yamaha Y15ZR V3 for the Malaysian market but still waiting for the real released date in Malaysia.
To begin with, this 3rd version of Yamaha Y15ZR 2020 (Yamaha Y15 V3) receives one of the biggest updates compared to the previous models. Earlier, the V2 received full LED light, new digital meter, rear mono-shock and wide tires. However, it appears that Yamaha wants to take the game to the next level with the V3!
The Details and Specs of the New Yamaha Y15ZR V3/ Exciter RC 155 VVA
In the case of the design, almost 80%+ of the bodywork on the new bike is brand-new. The redesigned front panels house a thinner LED headlamp unit which makes the front look flashier. Aside from this, the side panels and seat have been redesigned too; the wider front and tail sections now look much sleeker.
In the back, the R25 taillights have been finally replaced with a brand-new taillight (similar to R15 taillight) which blends in well with the overall bodywork. On top of this, the mudguards and grab bar have been redesigned and updated too.
In the case of the engine, looking at the stickers on the side of the bike; it appears that the Y15ZRV3 would come out with a new 155VVA engine and 6-speed gearbox. The engine and transmission would most likely be sourced from the R15. Given that’s the case, we expect the V3 to push around 19 hp (roughly 3 hp more than the current YZ15R).
As for the electronics, the ignition switch appears to be from the NVX; meaning the V3 would most likely feature keyless ignition! On top of this, the instrument cluster is also something new; it’s not sourced from V2 or NVX.
